Compost-what you oughta know

Here are some helpful links to get you more comfortable with the idea of composting, its environmental value, relationship to the University of Washington, and what SEED is doing about it. It is important to understand changing environmental policy on campus, Seattle, and globabally, as these are all issues we face and hope to alleviate.

Why Compost?
Composting turns consumed materials and would be waste into fertilizer, renewable energy sources, and prevents the accumulation of materials and leekings of landfills of toxic chemicals. A company outside of Seattle called Cedar Grove receives the University of Washington’s compostable materials and food waste collected each day and converts it into energy and non-harmful waste to return again to the soil.
